Authorities have issued strong warnings to the public in the Mayen-Koblenz district of Rhineland-Palatinate due to a large-scale forest and meadow fire that is growing in size. Following an official alert disseminated on Friday afternoon, residents are advised to temporarily leave the area. Specifically, preparations for the evacuation of the towns of Langenfeld and Arft are urged. Those who must evacuate should prepare only the essentials needed for two to three days.
The Mayen-Koblenz district administration took charge of the incident response, with numerous fire units on site. Given the intense smoke development, officials strongly advised against entering the region and emphasized the importance of following instructions from emergency services. Residents were also instructed to keep all windows and doors closed and to switch off ventilation and air conditioning systems.
