Fuel Associations Ensure Gas Tax Cuts Remain Available to Consumers Through June

The Mineral Oil Association Fabrics und Energie has confirmed that the tax reduction currently applied to gasoline and diesel will remain fully passed on to customers until the designated end date at the close of June. This statement was released by the association following the announcement of the measure by the black-red coalition, emphasizing that they will not be extending this fuel discount.

“Fuel stations passed the tax reduction on gasoline and diesel to customers in full from the start, and they will continue to do so until the end of the term,” a spokesperson told the “Rheinische Post” (Thursday edition). “We made this promise, and we will stick to it.”

Concurrently, the industry group explained that the fierce price competition among the approximately 14,000 fuel stations operating across Germany will continue regardless of the discount period. From the association’s perspective, however, it was understandable that the government provided temporary relief to citizens in response to the Middle East conflict.
