Franziska Brantner, co-chair of the Green party, is calling for Europe to establish its own independent nuclear deterrence alongside France and Great Britain. She stated in an interview with the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung” that while the United States’ nuclear umbrella has been reliably available for many years, the Americans have consistently indicated that they cannot permanently guarantee full support for European security.
