Speaking to the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland” Federal Minister of Transport Patrick Schnieder (CDU) stated that Germany does not have a shortage of kerosene regarding supply, citing that the current challenge is primarily one of pricing. He assured that there are sufficient refineries capable of producing the necessary fuel.
However, Schnieder noted that the situation differs when comparing Germany to regions such as East Asia, suggesting that availability of fuel in those areas could impact both flight accessibility and associated prices.
When addressed regarding whether consumers should choose domestic destinations like Rügen instead of international spots such as Bali, the Minister suggested that people can “enjoy wonderful holidays domestically, even in my home area, the Eifel”. Nevertheless, he concluded by clarifying his role, adding that as the Minister of Transport, he will not be issuing travel recommendations.
