Accommodation businesses in Germany registered 58.4 million overnight stays from both domestic and international guests in July 2026. According to preliminary results reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on Friday, this represented a 3.2 percent increase compared to July 2025. Within this month, domestic overnight stays rose by 3.2 percent year-over-year to reach 47.7 million, while international stays also increased by 3.2 percent, reaching 10.8 million.
Looking at the period from January to July 2026, the accommodation sector recorded a total of 282.1 million overnight stays. This figure is 0.9 percent higher than the same period in 2025, and importantly, it surpasses the previous record of 281.1 million stays set in 2019, before the pandemic. For this entire seven-month period, domestic overnight stays grew by 0.8 percent compared to 2025, totaling 235.0 million. Meanwhile, stays by international visitors increased by 1.0 percent, amounting to 47.1 million, according to the federal office.
