Germany Gears Up Emergency Berlinale Board Meeting Amid Rising Calls to Dismiss Director Over Antisemitism Incidents

The federal government is maintaining a position of uncertainty regarding the potential dismissal of Berlinale chief Tricia Tuttle. Deputy spokesperson for the government, Steffen Meyer, said on Wednesday to the dts news agency that he would not comment on the relevant media reports. He did, however, confirm that an extraordinary supervisory board meeting of the managing company would take place on Thursday morning, where the “future direction of the Berlinale” would be the focus.

The “Bild” newspaper had earlier reported that Culture Minister Wolfram Weimer intends to remove the festival’s head. The reason given was the recent incidents of antisemitism at the Berlinale. An official confirmation of the claim has not yet been issued.
