The US stock markets displayed mixed results on Thursday. As trading concluded in New York, the Dow finished at 52,178 points, marking a gain of 1.1 percent compared to the previous trading day. Slightly earlier, the broader S&P 500 was up 0.3 percent, reaching approximately 7,744 points, while the technology-focused Nasdaq 100 registered a slight decrease of 0.1 percent, closing around 29,936 points.
In the tech sector, investors appear to be approaching Artificial Intelligence (AI) stocks with caution. This concern is evident in Coreweave, a cloud infrastructure provider specializing in AI. Its shares have stabilized on Thursday after experiencing significant declines in recent days. Major firms, such as Nvidia, have poured substantial sums into this AI infrastructure provider, which is heavily dependent on demand from large corporate clients like Microsoft.
Separately, the European community currency strengthened on Thursday evening; the Euro traded at $1.1216, meaning the Dollar was worth 0.8916 Euros.
Commodities also saw movement. The price of gold notably climbed, reaching $4,173 per fine ounce in the evening, an increase of 1.7 percent. This translates to a price of 119.63 Euros per gram. Conversely, the oil price fell. A barrel of North Sea Brent crude cost $105.80 around 10 PM Central European Time, representing a decrease of 0.2 percent, or 24 cents, from the close of the previous trading session.
