Green Colleague Honors Kretschmann’s Model of Principled Pragmatism in Governance

Franziska Brantner, who is also a leader in the Green Party, recently praised Winfried Kretschmann, the outgoing Minister-President of Baden-Württemberg. According to her statements to “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland” Brantner noted that Kretschmann has demonstrated that Green politics is at its strongest when it combines a firm political stance with pragmatism. She added that Kretschmann always maintained a focus on ultimately improving people’s lives. Furthermore, she highlighted his ability to listen, build bridges, and make difficult decisions when those choices served the greater good. Brantner emphasized that Kretschmann represents a form of governance that does not need to be loud to be effective. “We are grateful that he has dedicated his life to these ideas” she concluded. Kretschmann, who has served as the Minister-President of Baden-Württemberg for approximately 15 years, will be officially seeing off this Wednesday. He holds the distinction of being Germany’s first Green Minister-President and the longest-serving government chief in Baden-Württemberg.
