Haribo Snags Record Sales in 2025, Outpacing Market Growth While Citing Shift from Chocolate to Gummies

Haribo recorded record confectionery sales in 2025. Herwig Vennekens, the Chief Commercial Officer of the Haribo Group, stated to the “Handelsblatt” that the global sales figures for the gummy bear manufacturer increased by 4.5%.

This growth rate exceeded the broader market increases. Market research company NIQ determined that the global confectionery category-covering gummies, puffed sugars, and licorice-saw a modest rise of only 1.5%.

Vennekens highlighted that one quarter of the company’s global growth was driven by new product introductions. He also pointed out a significant consumer trend: a noticeable shift away from chocolate. Due to unusually high cocoa prices, chocolate has become considerably more expensive. According to Vennekens, gummies are increasingly replacing chocolate in traditional holiday items, such as Christmas stockings and Easter baskets.

In Germany, Haribo remains the clear market leader, dominating competitors like Storck (gummy bears), Katjes, and Trolli. According to market data from Circana, Haribo slightly improved its market share by sales volume in 2025, reaching 57.6%. Beyond the national market, Haribo employs over 8,500 people worldwide.
