Former British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that he is stepping down from his role as a Member of Parliament. This decision, reported to the Camden New Journal, means that a by-election will be triggered in the Holborn and St Pancras constituency.
Starmer told the newspaper that he viewed the opportunity to represent the constituency and to succeed Frank Dobson, a significant MP and member of the previous Labour government, as “a great honor and a privilege.” He stated that his focus would now shift to other areas, specifically international affairs, such as defense, security, trade, and technology within a rapidly changing world.
Furthermore, he intends to continue his commitment to fighting violence against women and girls, a cause that is very important to him. This work, he noted, is something he started long before he became an MP and plans to pursue after stepping down.
