Left Parties Draw Even with SPD as AfD and Union Lose Ground in New Poll

The latest ZDF political barometer showed that The Left Party gained a point, tying for the lead with the SPD.

According to the survey conducted by the research group Wahlen, if a federal election were held next Sunday, both the Left Party and the SPD would rise to 12 percent. The Union, however, is only projected to reach 24 percent (a drop of one point), marking its worst figure in four years.

Meanwhile, the AfD is expected to lose one point, but it would still maintain the top spot with 26 percent. The Greens could see a notable improvement, moving up two points to reach 15 percent. In contrast, the FDP would remain static at 3 percent, confirming its inability to return to the Bundestag. Finally, all other parties combined are projected to total 8 percent (a slight decrease of one point).
