During a federal party conference in Potsdam, Heidi Reichinnek, the leader of The Left party, ruled out any potential collaboration between her party and the Union under certain conditions. Speaking to RTL and ntv, she asserted that her party would not support AfD policies merely because they were being implemented by a different party.
When asked whether The Left would consider working with the Union, Reichinnek redirected the question to the CDU and CSU, stating that they should be asked the question themselves. This decision followed her critical assessment of the Union’s current agenda, which she claimed has evolved to the point where some policies become indistinguishable from those of the AfD.
Looking ahead to the elections in Saxony-Anhalt, Reichinnek promised that The Left would make every effort to ensure the AfD remains outside of governing power.
