The Left party has strongly criticized the Union’s consideration of postponing the vote on the Building Modernization Act in the Bundestag. Violetta Bock, the party’s climate policy spokesperson, told T-Online that the coalition’s “headless zigzag course clearly demonstrates how great the underlying doubts are about their own draft legislation.”
This reaction from the Union follows an urgent application that The Left had submitted to the Federal Constitutional Court regarding the new “Heating Act.” Leading Union politicians have stated that they now wish to wait for the court’s decision from Karlsruhe.
Bock further condemned the government, describing it as saddening and predictable that the administration is attempting to enforce its agenda through “overwhelming tactics and chaos,” rather than allowing a fact-based and public debate on such a central future issue and enabling a genuine assessment of its consequences. She demanded that the government disclose the missing information regarding the climate policy ramifications of its perceived retrograde policies.
