Lufthansa Dreamliner Suffers Sudden Nose Gear Collapse While Parked at Frankfurt Airport

A Lufthansa aircraft, the Boeing 787-9 nicknamed “Herne” experienced an incident at Frankfurt Airport on Thursday. Video footage reveals that while the airplane was parked at the gate, the front landing gear suddenly collapsed. The “Dreamliner” fell onto its nose and sustained visible damage during the crash.

At the time of the incident, no passengers were aboard; however, several people, likely ground staff, were injured. The cause of the event was initially unknown.

The flight that was planned to depart for Los Angeles as LH450 was subsequently cancelled. A replacement aircraft took off at 2:20 PM, approximately half an hour late. The company stated that it, along with the relevant authorities, would be thoroughly investigating the exact circumstances of the occurrence.

The aircraft that crashed is based in Frankfurt and has previously completed flights from Austin/Texas on Wednesday, Delhi on Tuesday, and Toronto, Canada, on Saturday.
