Magdeburg Defeats Hannover 3-0 to Secure Fourth Place in 2. Bundesliga

In the 7th matchday of the 2. Bundesliga, 1. FC Magdeburg defeated Hannover 96 with a score of 3-0.

The home team opened the scoring in the 3rd minute thanks to Moritz-Broni Kwarteng. Hannover goalkeeper Leo Weinkauf hesitated with the ball at his feet and passed under pressure to his teammate Franz Roggow. Kwarteng surprised Roggow from behind, successfully disrupting the passing play and slotting the ball into the bottom left corner.

Emmanuel Iyoha doubled Magdeburg’s lead in the 30th minute. The home side initiated the attack near their own half, shifting the ball quickly to the left side. A through ball from Hyryläinen reached Zukowski, who immediately took a shot from roughly 16 meters out. Although Hannover goalkeeper Leo Weinkauf managed to deflect the shot wide, Iyoha collected the rebound, dribbled past Hannover defender Jean Hugonet, and finished the play into the net.

Mateusz Zukowski secured the third goal for the home side in the 86th minute. He was sent long into the center, beating advancing Hannover players in their defensive half. After a brief duel with H96 defender Maurice Neubauer, Zukowski hammered the ball into the bottom left corner, sealing the final score at 3-0.

This victory allows Magdeburg to temporarily move up to fourth place in the standings, while Hannover has slipped down to 12th position. Other match results on the day included SV Darmstadt 98 beating Energie Cottbus 3-1, and VfL Osnabrück drawing 1-1 against Dynamo Dresden.
