During the G7 summit in France, Federal Minister Friedrich Merz (CDU) presented US President Donald Trump with a Germany national team jersey. This appears to be the gift that was intended to be presented later, on occasion of Trump’s 80th birthday, according to the federal government. The jersey is personalized with the number 47 and the name “Trump.”
The second day of the summit in Évian-les-Bains began significantly later than scheduled on Tuesday. Initially, the reason for this delay was unclear. Trump was the last to arrive in the negotiation room. The first working session will focus on the stalled Ukraine negotiations, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is also in attendance.
In the remainder of the day, the G7 summit also has working sessions planned concerning the Middle East, as well as meetings with partner countries including India, Brazil, Egypt, and South Korea. As is customary, numerous bilateral meetings will also take place.
