Federal Transport Minister Steffen Bilger of the CDU warmly welcomed the Deutsche Bahn’s announced decision to reintroduce the family ticket. He told the “Bild-Zeitung” that he was pleased with this move both in his capacity as Minister and personally as a father. According to Bilger, rail travel is the mode of choice for many families in Germany when traveling for holidays or visiting relatives.
For this reason, it was a priority for him that Deutsche Bahn create an attractive offer for families following the discontinuation of family reservations. The transport minister stated that he considers it a proper step that Deutsche Bahn is now permanently implementing this measure. Furthermore, given the current high fuel prices, the family ticket serves as a strong signal supporting environmentally friendly mobility via rail.
