Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Katherina Reiche (CDU), and Federal Minister for Research, Dorothee Bär (CSU), have firmly dismissed any considerations of a minority government.Speaking to the “Rheinische Post”, Bär labeled the idea “nonsense” insisting that no one desires a minority administration. Reiche echoed this sentiment, adding that politicians must cease demonizing compromise and stop looking for scapegoats or winners and losers. According to Reiche, the focus should instead be on working together and moving in a unified direction.Bär used the opportunity to strongly defend the current black-and-red coalition, affirming that the partnership is stable. “We were elected for four years, and we will shape these four years together” stated the CSU politician. Both Bär and Reiche asserted that the entire cabinet shared clear plans for the full legislative term, which they intend to implement step by step.Bär concluded by emphasizing the solidarity within the team, recalling a moment at the cabinet table: “And quite frankly, when I was recently at the cabinet table, I thought: I definitely do not want to lose any of my colleagues in the cabinet. This team stands together”.
