According to a survey conducted by the polling institute Forsa, most citizens surveyed believe that they would only notice a tangible effect from tax relief payments amounting to three digits or more per month. The findings, reported by RTL and ntv, revealed that 38 percent of respondents stated that they would require at least €100 monthly to feel a noticeable reduction in taxes. This figure increased for 31 percent of those surveyed, who cited €250. Furthermore, 19 percent believe that only tax reductions exceeding €250 per month are genuinely appreciable. Conversely, only 5 percent considered €50 per month to be sufficient.
The poll also highlighted noticeable variations when considering party affiliations. While supporters of the CDU/CSU, SPD, and Green parties generally view €100 per month as a perceptible amount, members of the AfD are expecting significantly higher sums. Specifically, four out of every ten AfD supporters indicated that they would only recognize a genuine impact of tax relief amounts greater than €250 monthly.
In contrast, the survey found minimal difference in expectations across various other demographics. No major disparities were observed regarding the divide between East and West Germany, nor were there significant differences between various income groups. For this assessment, Forsa polled 1,002 individuals on April 30 and May 4.
