According to authorities, at least three people were killed and 21 others were injured in an explosion that occurred at an Italian restaurant in Moscow. The event took place around 8 p.m. local time (7 p.m. German time) when a homemade explosive device detonated on Kudrinskaya Square, near the city center. The National Anti-Terror Committee (NAK) reported that a woman carrying the explosive device apparently attempted to enter the restaurant but was stopped by a security guard. Tragically, the explosion killed the woman, the security guard, and one of the restaurant’s visitors. At the time of the attack, the restaurant, which is located within one of Moscow’s famous Stalin-era high-rises, was hosting a private celebration.
