The President of the Bundestag, Julia Klöckner of the CDU, has rejected speculation from the AfD regarding alleged manipulation of the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt. Speaking to “Spiegel,” Klöckner stated that there is no reason to doubt the integrity of elections in Germany.
The CDU politician further elaborated that without concrete evidence, questioning elections seemingly serves a specific agenda: to sow distrust in established rules and only accept the results if they align with their own performance.
Klöckner emphasized that parliamentary elections are conducted according to clear and transparent rules. She assured that if mistakes do occur, they will be examined and corrected as necessary, adding that cases of electoral fraud or manipulation will be prosecuted. Finally, she stressed that every eligible voter has the right to object to an election result, which she viewed as a demonstration of the strength and self-assurance of German democracy.
