Marco Giordani, the CEO of ProSiebenSat.1, stated that the media conglomerate currently has no concrete plans for a stock exchange delisting. While he acknowledged that the majority shareholder, Media for Europe (MFE), possesses the right to delist the company at any time, he confirmed that such a move is not currently planned.
MFE, which belongs to the Berlusconi family, currently holds a 75.61 percent stake in ProSiebenSat.1, making it the majority owner of the television group. Giordani, who previously worked as a manager for MFE before assuming his current role, refuted any suggestion that ProSiebenSat.1 is being managed from Italy. He stressed that the management team retains complete control over company strategy, asserting that the group is fully autonomous in its decisions.
Giordani also firmly denied that MFE exerts any influence over the editorial work of ProSiebenSat.1. The CEO stated that there are no mandates or interference regarding journalistic output, adding that neither he nor MFE dictates these processes; all editorial decisions belong to the chief editors.
In the context of the overall corporate restructuring, Giordani indicated that other subsidiary holdings could potentially be sold. However, he cautioned that these sales would not happen all at once due to the current strained market conditions.
Since Giordani took over following MFE’s acquisition of a majority stake, several subsidiaries, including “wetter.com” “billiger-mietwagen.de” and “Camper Days” have already been divested. However, the online perfume retailer Flaconi will initially remain part of the portfolio. According to Giordani, the company performs very well and offers further growth potential, meaning there is no immediate need to sell it, even though it falls outside the core business areas.
Looking ahead, the CEO plans to sharpen ProSiebenSat.1’s focus primarily on entertainment content. He stated the group is prepared to “become a smaller company-but one with higher profitability”. Meanwhile, he confirmed that no further workforce reductions were in the immediate plan.
