Public Opinion Overwhelmingly Rejects Abolition of ‘Pension at 63’

According to the latest ZDF Political Pulse survey, a considerable majority is opposed to the planned cancellation of the “pension at 63” option. The poll, released Friday by the Wahlen research group, revealed that 74% of respondents believe it is wrong to eliminate the possibility of retiring without a reduction after 45 insured years, while only 21% hold the opposite view. This sentiment is consistent across the support bases of all political parties. Even among supporters of the current governing parties, a strong majority is against the measure: 61% of Union voters oppose it, and 77% of SPD voters oppose it. The strongest rejection comes from supporters of the AfD (89%) and Die Linke (88%).
