The State Criminal Police Office of Baden-Württemberg, along with the Stuttgart State Prosecutor’s Office, has launched an investigation into a fire that occurred at a substation in Reutlingen. Police have indicated that there are indications suggesting the fire was caused by a deliberate criminal act on Monday.
The blaze led to a large-scale power outage that impacted the city of Reutlingen and the surrounding communities. According to the grid operators, numerous homes, commercial businesses, and public institutions have since regained their power supply throughout the day. However, it remains unclear when the full power supply will be restored.
The ongoing criminal investigation is currently targeting an unknown individual for suspected deliberate arson and the disruption of public services. Authorities have not yet received any information regarding potential suspects or motives. Forensic work, which includes the deployment of an arson-detection dog, is still underway at the scene.
