The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Dresden oversaw the arrest of two suspected ISIS members, aged 33 and 27, on Tuesday and Thursday. According to a statement released by the authorities on Friday, the arrests took place in Dresden and Königstein, based on arrest warrants issued by the Dresden District Court.
The two men are accused of membership in a foreign terrorist organization. Specifically, they are alleged to have acted as fighters for the “Islamic State” between February 2016 and May 2017, and between April 2016 and February 2017, respectively, receiving monthly payments for their activities. During simultaneous searches of their residences, police units from the Counter-Terrorism Defense Center seized mobile phones, a laptop, and identification documents.
The defendants were presented to the investigative judge at the Dresden District Court, who authorized the execution of the arrest warrants. The ongoing investigation, particularly the analysis of the seized electronic devices, is continuing.
