Saxony-Anhalt Voter Turnout Surges, Exceeding 2021 Levels Amid Election Campaign Intensity

The turnout for the state election in Saxony-Anhalt during the afternoon has already exceeded the total turnout observed five years ago. According to the State Election Director, the participation rate reached 65.3% around 4 PM. For comparison, the rate in 2021 was 41.0% at the same time, finishing at 60.3% overall. Anticipations of a significantly higher turnout were already present this year due to the heated election campaign surrounding the possibility of a sole government formed by the AfD. Polling stations will close at 6 PM.
