On the final day of the Oktoberfest, a 47-year-old employee of an amusement park operation was seriously injured in an accident involving a ship swing ride. Police confirmed that the man was resuscitated at the scene of the accident before being transported to a Munich hospital. Authorities stated that at no point did the ride pose a danger to the passengers.
The incident occurred around 10:15 AM in the Oidn Wiesn area. Police cordoned off the ride and the 13th Precinct took over the investigation. A crisis intervention team assisted the witnesses to the event. Further details regarding the accident are currently unknown.
This was not the first serious incident at the Oktoberfest. On the opening day, visitors were suspended upside down in the “Predator” ride due to a faulty sensor. Two days later, a 52-year-old employee died following an accident on the “Hangover” free-fall tower. A fatal accident also occurred in the Oidn Wiesn, where an elderly woman using a wheelchair fell during an incident involving a carriage horse and later passed away in the hospital.
