SPD Surges Ahead of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Election in Political Poll Shift

In the run-up to the state election in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Social Democrats (SPD) are showing a surprising upward trend in the northeast, according to a recent poll. The “Politbarometer,” released by ZDF on Thursday evening, shows that the Social Democrats jumped three percentage points within a single week, increasing their support to 37%. This growth allows them to overtake the Alternative for Germany (AfD), which simultaneously lost a point, settling at 36%.

In other results, the CDU dropped by one percentage point to 6%. The Left Party (Linke) also saw a decrease, losing one point to reach 9%. The Greens maintained their level of support at 5%, while the BSW remained stable at 4%. All other parties reported no change in their figures, holding steady at 3%.

The survey data was gathered from 1,395 individuals between September 14 and September 17.
