Trump stated that the suspect was seen with multiple weapons, including a shotgun, a handgun, and several knives. He emphasized that the attack appeared to be the work of a single individual, calling the man a “wannabe killer”. It remains unclear whether the assailant targeted the President, and the motive behind the violence was initially unknown.
Trump later released a video via his social media platform, showing a man running past security personnel while seemingly firing weapons. The President credited the security teams for handling the situation quickly and describing their actions as a “fantastic job”. Due to the incident, the event will need to be rescheduled in a month.
