Nine Dead in Florida Plane Crash; Investigation Underway After Learjet Incident near Palm Beach

All nine occupants were killed in an airplane crash that occurred in a residential area of Palm Beach County, Florida, on Sunday, according to U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. The aircraft was reportedly en route from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas when it crashed near Cresthaven, Florida. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) dispatched a team, supported by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), to assist with the accident investigation.

The crash happened at 12:50 p.m. local time. The Learjet plummeted into a road and was engulfed in a fireball, creating a crater at the crash site. This location is situated about four miles south of the West Palm Beach airport, which was recently renamed in honor of U.S. President Donald Trump.

At the time of the crash, the region was experiencing scattered storms. The aircraft flew through a stronger thunderstorm cell shortly before the accident. It is still unclear whether the weather played any part in the disaster.
