Tensions Flare: US and Iran Resume Heated Conflict Operations in the Gulf Region

Despite a previously agreed-upon ceasefire, the United States and Iran have reportedly resumed intense military confrontations in the Gulf region. According to the US Central Command (Centcom), US forces attacked Iranian military facilities on Thursday. These alleged facilities were reportedly responsible for various “unprovoked” rocket, drone, and fast-boat assaults against American warships, particularly when US destroyers traversed the Strait of Hormuz toward the Gulf of Oman.

The specific Iranian installations targeted by US military assets reportedly included missile and drone launch sites, command and control centers, and reconnaissance stations. A US official stated that the military strikes took place at several locations, including Bandar Abbas and Qeshm.

However, Iranian military sources offered a counter-narrative, claiming that US air strikes had impacted civilian areas along the coastlines of Qeshm Island, Bandar Khamir, and Sirik. Iran asserted that the US had violated the ongoing truce by attacking an Iranian oil tanker en route to the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Iran stated that it had taken “countermeasures” attacking US military vessels located east of the strait and south of the port in Chabahar.
