The state executive board of the BSW in Thuringia has called an extraordinary party congress following a demand from the federal executive board to withdraw from the government. This decision follows previous petitions submitted by four district associations on Monday evening. Furthermore, the state board decided against following the federal executive board’s resolution from August 13th, which proposed leaving the government coalition and entering negotiations for an expert government.
However, this matter is now scheduled for a vote at the special party meeting. Previously, the BSW parliamentary group in the Thuringian State Parliament had voted, “unanimously,” to continue the coalition. Two members, however, were absent from that vote and were explicitly opposed. The core problem remains: the “Raspberry Coalition,” which includes the CDU, SPD, and BSW, possesses exactly the same number of votes in the State Parliament as the opposition.
