A male human torso, wrapped in plastic sheeting, was discovered in a forest area in Glücksburg, near Flensburg, on Tuesday. Police Directorate Flensburg and the Public Prosecutor’s Office reported on Wednesday that a hunter found the body parts in the “Friedholz” forest plot around 4 PM.
The murder commission and the public prosecutor’s office have taken over the investigation. Authorities suspect the incident is a violent crime based on the manner of the discovery, but the victim’s identity and the circumstances remain unknown.
The area around the discovery site is currently being searched by crime scene specialists, officers from BKI Flensburg, and about 40 members of the Schleswig-Holstein reserve police force. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
The police are requesting public assistance, appealing to anyone who may have seen suspicious individuals or vehicles near the “Friedholz” forest plot or the Pugumer Lake during the past few days or weeks. Information can be provided to the Flensburg Police Directorate.
