The Union parliamentary group in the Bundestag has announced its opposition to plans put forward by Labor Minister Bärbel Bas (SPD) to connect agreed-upon weekly working hours to collective bargaining agreements. Marc Biadacz (CDU), the spokesperson for the CDU/CSU parliamentary faction on labor and social affairs, informed the Handelsblatt that the Union’s position is clear: establishing a weekly maximum working hour creates significant flexibility across a wide range of occupations. They want to allow this flexibility for all employees, regardless of whether their workplaces are subject to collective bargaining. Additionally, Biadacz stressed that time registration must be achievable in an “unbureaucratic” manner, and that the possibility of “trust-based working time” must continue to be available in all companies.
