The Union coalition is warning against further sharing sensitive data from security agencies with the city of Berlin. This concern was sparked by controversial guests observed at an election party hosted by the Berlin Left party, according to the “Handelsblatt”.
Alexander Throm, the CDU’s parliamentary group spokesperson for domestic affairs, told the newspaper that the Left party has effectively become a “collection point for leftist extremists and anti-Israel haters.” He stated that a party operating within such an environment constitutes a security risk for Berlin. Consequently, if the Berlin Left were to successfully elect the Governing Mayor, Throm asserted that the extent to which sensitive data from security authorities could continue to be shared with the city would have to be urgently re-evaluated.
Throm also challenged both the SPD and the Green Party, demanding that they prove their commitment to the political center. He called on them to prevent the infiltration of antisemitism-and the associated extremist cliques-into the city government administration.
