US Data Center Boom Fuels Massive Growth for German Corporations

A burgeoning surge in electricity demand across the United States is currently proving to be a major growth driver for German companies, according to an analysis of recent business figures and stock market performances conducted by the “Handelsblatt”.

This rapid development is primarily fueled by the massive expansion of data centers in the US. In addition to major Dax corporations such as Siemens, Siemens Energy, and RWE, several other publicly listed companies-including Hochtief, 2G, Deutz, Pfisterer, and Technotrans-have reported to the “Handelsblatt” that they are experiencing an unusually significant profit boost from the energy and data center boom. Shares in these respective companies have risen between 22 and 130 percent over the past year.

For example, Hochtief has seen orders for data centers more than double in the last twelve months. Meanwhile, 2G plans to increase its revenue by 20 percent next year, driven by a major North American data center contract. Technotrans is embarking on the largest investment in its company’s history, planning to expand its production and logistics facilities at its Münsterland headquarters by over 17,000 square meters next year to meet the rising demand for liquid cooling systems essential for data centers.

The success of these German data center beneficiaries is part of a broader trend across Europe. The Bank of America’s MLEDATAC index, which pools European data center suppliers, has increased by 92 percent in the past year.
