US Stocks Climb Driven by AI Optimism Despite Inflation Concerns and Rising Oil Prices

American stock exchanges saw gains on Thursday. By the time trading concluded in New York, the Dow calculated at 53,569 points, a rise of 0.2% compared to the previous trading day. Earlier in the day, the broader S&P 500 was up 0.7%, reaching approximately 7,731 points, while the technology-focused Nasdaq 100 calculated roughly 29,642 points, up 1.4%.

The momentum of the artificial intelligence rally continues to strengthen, boosted by Nvidia significantly exceeding expectations with its quarterly results and highly optimistic outlook. Meanwhile, investors remain focused on the comments from the US central bank chairman, Kevin Warsh, regarding future monetary policy in the context of continued high inflation.

In currency markets, the European common currency weakened on Thursday evening; one Euro cost $1.1651, and consequently, the dollar exchanged for 0.8583 Euros.

The price of gold saw a slight increase, reaching $4,605 per fine ounce by the evening, marking a 0.2% rise. This equates to a price of €127.09 per gram.

Oil prices surged, with a barrel of North Sea Brent crude costing $89.64 around 10 PM German time on Thursday. This represents a 2.1% jump from the previous trading day’s closing price.
