According to reports cited by the “Handelsblatt” from internal corporate circles, Volkswagen is reportedly planning for long-term sales goals exceeding ten million vehicles annually. While the company aims to make itself more resilient to crises by initially reducing production capacity from a former twelve million to nine million vehicles, its distribution ambitions remain higher. The ultimate goal is to secure profitability even with lower unit volumes, meaning the company is considering various scenarios, with the ten-million-unit scenario being the most optimistic.
Next week, the Supervisory Board is scheduled to approve the group’s new strategic outlook, known as the “Group Target Picture.” This new plan will define how Volkswagen aims to grow by the end of the decade-via fewer factories, fewer models, and reduced complexity. For return on equity, the corporation has specified a target range between eight and ten percent. A company spokesperson declined to comment on the figures.
