The German Foreign Office responded to reports claiming that China is secretly providing training for Russian soldiers involved in the Ukraine conflict. According to a spokesperson speaking to the dts news agency on Wednesday, the office confirmed that they are aware of reports regarding China’s alleged role in training Russian forces. Furthermore, the office stated that it takes “very seriously” all reports concerning any country supporting the Russian aggression in Ukraine or any measures third-party states are taking that would improve Russia’s position in the war.
The spokesperson emphasized that Russia constitutes the greatest threat to Euro-Atlantic security. He stated that “anything that enables Russia to continue this war of aggression in Ukraine is also a threat to European security and to our security in Germany”. Finally, the statement concluded by noting that China’s “decisive and growing support for Russia’s war of aggression thus also affects our security”.
