2.. Bundesliga Update

Darmstadt 98 secured a late 1-0 victory away to 1. FC Nürnberg in the second matchday of the 2. Bundesliga, while Preußen Münster and SC Paderborn 07 played to a 1-1 draw.

The match in Nuremberg began as a tightly contested affair, characterized by strong defensive performances from both sides. After the break, Nürnberg took the initiative, but several promising attacks were thwarted by a resilient performance from Darmstadt goalkeeper Marcel Schuhen and the woodwork. The decisive moment arrived in the fourth minute of added time when Fraser Hornby headed a pass into the path of Killian Corredor, allowing him to break through and calmly slot the ball home for a 1-0 lead (90+4).

At the Preußenstadion, SC Paderborn took an early lead through a headed goal from Luis Engelns in the 23rd minute, capitalizing on a period of defensive uncertainty within the box. Münster responded in the 61st minute, with Jano ter Horst leveling the score after a bright attacking move down the right flank, with a slight deflection aiding the finish.

Both teams continued to push for a winning goal, but a combination of strong goalkeeping and determined defending prevented further breakthroughs. A collision near the sideline briefly halted play as Münster’s Brackelmann received treatment, though he was able to continue. Despite numerous substitutions aimed at injecting fresh energy into the game, the match concluded with both sides sharing the points.
