Eintracht Frankfurt Rises to 2 in Bundesliga Management Ranking

A new study from the HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management reveals a shifting landscape in the operational quality of Bundesliga clubs.

Eintracht Frankfurt has significantly improved its standing, rising to second place in the ranking and increasingly challenging the traditionally dominant teams, researchers announced Friday. While FC Bayern Munich remains at the top, its lead is demonstrably shrinking.

According to study director Henning Zülch, the overall management quality within the Bundesliga is trending upwards. The mid-table clubs are showing increasing signs of professionalization, however, clubs in the lower third of the league are falling behind. A noticeable development is the rising awareness of fan welfare among Bundesliga clubs following the recent failed investor proposal in 2024.

Despite high revenues, the Bundesliga’s financial foundation remains somewhat precarious, with growth largely dependent on player sales. Zülch cautioned against over-reliance on short-term transfer profits, emphasizing that sustainable success is more likely achieved through focused youth development, nurturing and retaining homegrown talent.
