Two Dead in Serious Car Crash in Baden-Württemberg

A serious traffic collision on federal highway B328 near Pleidelsheim in the German state of Baden-Württemberg has resulted in two fatalities. According to a statement released Sunday evening by the Ludwigsburg Police Department, a 52-year-old driver of an Audi and a 67-year-old passenger in a Mazda both died as a result of their injuries.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:20 a.m. Sunday when, for reasons currently under investigation, the Audi driver veered off the roadway and collided with the oncoming Mazda. The 72-year-old driver of the Mazda sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

Authorities estimate property damage to be approximately 65,000 euros.

The roadway was closed in both directions for approximately eight hours, reopening around 7:00 p.m. The Stuttgart Public Prosecutor’s Office has commissioned an expert assessment to determine the cause of the accident. Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
