A recent survey indicates a shift in voter preferences within Germany, with the Alternative for Germany (AfD) gaining ground and now closely aligned with the combined CDU/CSU bloc.
According to the “Bild” newspaper, citing the latest “Meinungstrend” poll conducted by the Institute Insa, the AfD currently polls at 25.5 percent. This represents a modest increase of half a percentage point compared to the previous week. The CDU/CSU alliance also stands at 25.5 percent. The Social Democratic Party (SPD) maintains 14.5 percent in the survey.
Collectively, the CDU/CSU and SPD currently account for 40 percent of voter intention.
The Green Party registers at 11 percent, while the Left party has experienced a one-percentage-point decline to reach 10 percent. Both the Bewegung für Deutschland (BSW) and the Free Democratic Party (FDP) remain below the five percent threshold, polling at 4.5 and 3.5 percent respectively.
