Berlin: Man Stabbed, Shot with Replica Gun in Central District

A serious assault occurred in Berlin-Mitte early Saturday morning, resulting in injuries to a 28-year-old man. Police reported that a 40-year-old male allegedly shot the victim in the face with a blank-firing weapon and subsequently inflicted a facial cut with a knife.

The altercation took place on Am Nordbahnhof street, where the 28-year-old was meeting with a 39-year-old woman accompanied by the 40-year-old suspect. Law enforcement received the alert around 4:30 AM and apprehended the suspect at the scene.

The injured man sustained a gunshot wound and a laceration to the lower jaw, receiving initial treatment from paramedics before being transported to a hospital. Authorities recovered the blank-firing weapon near the incident location and secured it as evidence.

The suspect, believed to be under the influence of alcohol, refused a breathalyzer test. Consequently, the Berlin Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered a blood sample to be taken. Following forensic examination, the man was released from police custody. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
