Germany Responds to UN Gaza Genocide Report

The German government has expressed concern regarding a recent United Nations report alleging actions by the Israeli military in Gaza. A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry in Berlin confirmed to the dts news agency that the government had taken note of the report by the Commission of Inquiry, emphasizing its commitment to conducting its own analysis of the situation in the Palestinian territories and taking the findings “very seriously.

The spokesperson clarified that the Commission’s analyses are presented as standalone assessments and, as is standard practice with such reports, the government cannot individually verify every conclusion and finding. However, he stressed that the incidents detailed within the report are “extraordinarily concerning.

The UN Human Rights Council’s independent Commission of Inquiry concluded that four out of five acts defined in the 1948 UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide appeared to have been met within Gaza. The German government reiterated that all parties involved in armed conflicts are obligated to adhere to international humanitarian law.
