Consumer advocacy group Pro Bahn has accused national and state transport ministers of breaking promises, should they proceed with planned ticket price increases at their upcoming special conference in Munich this Thursday. According to Verbandchef Detlef Neuß, speaking to the “Rheinische Post”, a price point of 62 euros is currently unsustainable for passengers.
Neuß stated that politicians had previously pledged price stability for the coming years and that an increase would represent a breach of faith with the travelling public. He suggested that such a rise could lead many passengers to abandon the Deutschlandticket, potentially neutralizing the intended effect of the price adjustment.
Transport ministers are reportedly considering a price increase effective January 2026, with discussions centering around a monthly cost of either 62 or 64 euros. The current nationwide ticket is priced at 58 euros.
