Russian Jets Breach Polish Airspace Near Baltic Gas Pipeline

Reports of airspace violations and provocative actions by Russian military aircraft have emerged from both Estonia and Poland within a short timeframe, escalating tensions in the region.

Estonian authorities reported that three Russian military jets entered Estonian airspace on Friday, remaining within the area for approximately twelve minutes. Officials described the incident as an “unprecedentedly blatant” violation, occurring against a backdrop of heightened geopolitical tensions along NATO’s eastern flank. In response, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas has announced the forthcoming application of consultations under Article 4 of the NATO treaty.

Shortly after the Estonian report, Polish border guards reported a separate incident. According to the announcement, two Russian fighter jets flew at low altitude into the security zone surrounding the Petrobaltic drilling platform in the Baltic Sea. Polish forces and related services were notified, though initial indications suggest the Polish airspace itself was not breached.

This latest development follows a similar occurrence last week, when Poland, supported by NATO ally fighter jets, reportedly shot down suspected Russian drones within its airspace. The frequency of these incidents is raising concerns and prompting increased vigilance among regional security forces.
