What’s Happening in Germany?

Fuel prices in Germany have remained largely stable in recent days. According to data released Wednesday by the ADAC, a leading German automobile club, the average price for Super E10 gasoline dipped slightly by 0.2 cents per liter to reach €1.665. Diesel prices also experienced a minor decrease, falling 0.1 cents to €1.588 per liter.

This stagnation is attributed to the consistent price of crude oil, currently hovering around $68 per barrel and a largely unchanged Euro-to-US dollar exchange rate. Consequently, the price difference between Super E10 and diesel has narrowed to 7.7 cents per liter.

This development is noteworthy given the current start of the heating season, a period typically characterized by increased demand for heating oil, a product closely related to diesel. Ordinarily, heightened demand for heating oil would exert upward pressure on diesel prices, thus reducing the gap between diesel and gasoline costs. The current situation suggests limited impact from this seasonal effect.
