Germany Aims to Banish 13 Harmful Additives from E‑Cigarettes

The German federal government is planning a broad ban on specific ingredients used in e‑cigarettes. Business Insider and the “Welt” report that ministries are currently coordinating a draft amendment to the Tobacco Products Ordinance that would outlaw 13 harmful substances, including cooling agents. A spokesperson for the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture confirmed on Thursday that, in addition to addictive nicotine, the vapor inhaled from e‑cigarettes contains other health‑hazardous substances. The ministry is moving forward with the amendment so that certain flavoring and cooling agents can no longer be used in e‑cigarettes.
