The Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office, specializing in internet crime, announced on Tuesday that it had obtained search warrants for the French offices of the social‑media platform X. The move follows investigations that were launched in January 2025, although the office did not disclose further details.
Media reports say the inquiry centers on suspected algorithm manipulation and illegal data collection. The investigation has reportedly expanded to cover allegations of assisting in the spread of child sexual‑abuse material and sexualised deepfakes.
In April, the Paris prosecutor’s office summoned X’s chief executive Elon Musk and former CEO Linda Yaccarino to a voluntary interview as part of the ongoing investigation.
